Schooled at Traupis Primary School, Raguva (Panevėžys district) Pro-Gymnasium.
1945-1951 she studied at the Stained Glass Department of the Faculty of Painting at Kaunas Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts, where she received a degree in stained glass art.
1951-1982 V. Ostrauskienė worked at the Kaunas "Dailė" Combined Works Factory as an artist in the Creative Works sector.
1952-1955 she was also a lecturer at the Kaunas School of Applied Arts, 1963-1967 she was a painter at the amber workshop of the Jiesios ceramics factory.
Since 1956, she has taken part in exhibitions, exhibited her painted landscapes and portraits, thematic compositions and held jubilee solo exhibitions in Kaunas and Panevėžys (1987-1988). Ostrauskienė's work is characterized by elements of symbolism, metaphoric, generalized plastic forms, decorative colouring of plastic forms.
