Graduated from Vilnius 31st Secondary School. 1980-1985 - studied English Language and Literature at Vilnius University. Doctor of Humanities. 1991-1993 Studied Icelandic language and literature at the University of Iceland on a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture of Iceland. After returning to Lithuania, she taught Icelandic language and literature at the Department of Scandinavian Studies at Vilnius University, and later worked as an editor at the Institute of Science and Encyclopaedia Publishing. She lives in Scotland, teaches at a grammar school and works as a freelance translator.
