Stanionis won a bronze medal at the 2010 European Youth Championships in Ukraine. In 2012 Stanionis became Lithuanian adult champion for the first time. In 2013, at the World Adult Championships, Stanionis made it to the second round, where he lost to a representative from Armenia and withdrew from further competition. In 2014 he won a silver medal at the European Union Championship. In 2015, Stanionis became European Champion. In the same year, he finished 5th in the World Championships. At the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Eimantas defeated China's Liu Wei, but lost in the eighth round to this year's Olympic vice-champion Shakhram Gijasova.
