1982 graduated from the Lithuanian Conservatoire (J.Juzeliūnas), 1983-87 interned and studied at its post-graduate school. 1987-90 taught at the Lithuanian Conservatoire, 1990-94 at the Stuttgart Higher School of Music and University. Since 2007 he has been teaching at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, and in 2010-16 he was the head of the Centre for Music Innovation Studies (which he founded); Associate Professor (2008).In 1985 he founded the Druskininkai Chamber Music Days Festival, which he headed until 1992.
