Harm Jannes Evers war born on November 3rd, 1925 in Gramsbergen. At the age of 8 he started his musical career playing piccolo in the loval wind band "Crescendo". Evers played several instruments, but war eventually accepted as clarinettist/violinist with the Staff Band of the "1st Infantry Regiment" (now the "Johan Willem Frisokapel") in Assen in 1950
He played with this band for 30 years, and left it in November 1980 when he reached the age of retirement. As well as playing in the band, he also led various bands. He also taught sacophone and clarinet for over thirty years at various music schools. At the age of forty he started to study music theory with the well-known wind music composer Piet van Mever, who died in 1985. This was the start of his career as a composer and arranger. His first composition was the march "Ameland" in 1972, and he now has written 150 workd for wind band and/or drum band.
