historian, researcher at the 20th Century History Department of the Lithuanian Institute of History, Doctor of Humanities.
Having graduated from Šiauliai 8th Secondary School, in 1988-1991 he worked at Šiauliai Museum of History and Ethnography as a junior research fellow, in 1991-1998 as a chief inspector of the Cultural Heritage Inspectorate, later as a chief inspector of the territorial division of the Šiauliai department of the Cultural Heritage Protection. In 1998, he graduated from the Faculty of History of Vilnius University with a Master's degree in History, and became a doctoral student at the Lithuanian Institute of History. Since 2003 he has been a researcher at the Institute.
On 11 December 2002 he defended his PhD thesis "Lithuanian State Cultural Policy 1927-1940" at the Lithuanian Historical Institute.
His research focuses on the history of Lithuanian culture in the 20th century, the cultural policy of the state, Lithuanian society in the first half of the 20th century, collective memory and the memory culture in Lithuania.
