Philosophically, A. Kamiu was associated with existentialism, although he shook off such labels throughout his life and denied belonging to this movement or supporting such a philosophy. The main topics he explored were suicide, ethics, human nature, justice, developed the idea of absurdity, meaninglessness and irrationality of the world. From this, he later developed the concept of rebellion as an opposition to the meaning of the absurd. A. Camus also became famous for his confrontation with another French philosopher, Jean-Paul Sartre.
