Abolghasem Beiki was born in Aliabad-e Katool, Golestan province, north-eastern Iran. He has been singing since an early age. In 1987, he started learning folk than playing and singing with Seyd Ali Hossein. Since 1993 he has continued to study and perform the music of Mazandaran on the Caspian Sea and the dutar (a bilingual ancient stringed instrument) as a singing accompaniment with master Seyd Mojtaba Hossein. He has participated in many folk music festivals and has performed at many anniversaries, of which folk music is an integral part and which Beiki carries on as a living tradition.
