[NE]music Composer Aistė Vaitkevičiūtė: Music has been with her since childhood, she learned to play the piano at an early age, so she tried to study history and later chose composition at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. As Aistė says, her work is still a process of exploration. The main sources of ideas are two seemingly contradictory traditions - folklore and Gregorian chant. She has written instrumental, vocal and choral works. Interestingly, another area of interest to Aistė is Eastern philosophy and martial arts.
