Algirdas Jakas is an artist currently based in Vilnius, who studied graphic arts at the Vilnius Academy of Arts and sculpture at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts (HFBK). His practice focuses on themes of care, collective anxiety and different forms of hypochondria. Often using materials associated with hobbies or therapeutic activities and combining them with drawing techniques, he explores the boundaries of individual self-help practices and the mysterious with the help of "anxiety instruments". In recent years, the artist has carried out projects at the project space Lokomotif in Lentvaris and at the Vilnius gallery Atletika in a duet with Egle Ruibyte.
