Alla Zagaykevych (also spelled Zahaikevych, Zahaykevych) graduated from the Kyiv Conservatory and the IRCAM Institute in Paris.
From 1986-1999, as part of the folklore ensemble Drevo, she researched authentic Ukrainian singing and took part in numerous folklore expeditions, conferences, and festivals.
Since 1997, she has been teaching at the composition department of the National Music Academy of Ukraine, where she founded the Studio of Electroacoustic Music with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation.
Zagaykevych сombines work in academic genres (symphonic, chamber, electroacoustic music, opera) and contemporary media art (audio-visual installations, electroacoustic performances, music for film, video art, theater).
Since the mid-90s, she has been actively promoting academic electronic music in Ukraine, collaborating with musicians of experimental electronic music and “new improvisational music.” She is the curator of international electroacoustic music projects Elektroakustyka (since 2005) and
EM-VISIA (since 2003). In 2011, Alla Zagaykevych founded the Association of Electroacoustic Music under the Kyiv organization of the Union of Composers of Ukraine.
