Andrius Vasiliauskas was born in 1954 in Vilnius, in a family of musicians. He graduated in piano from the M.K.Čiurlionis Art School in 1973 and then enrolled in the Lithuanian Music Academy, where he studied with A.Juozapėnaitė, prof. O.Šteinbergaitė and A.Vainiūnaitė. He graduated from the academy in 1978 and worked as a concertmaster from 1977. Andrius worked in the classes of prof. A.Vainiūnaitė, prof. J.Fledžinskas, dėst. E.Jevstratovas, dėst. V.Leimontas and others. After internship with prof. O.Šteinbergaitė in 1986-1988, A.Vasiliauskas began teaching at the Lithuanian Music Academy, but he is no longer employed there.
Andrius started preparing for concerts during his studies, and in 1976 he performed for the first time in the Music Academy Hall F.Chopin's 12 études for piano, Op.10 cycle. He also performed for the first time in Lithuania all four F.Chopin ballads. In 1987, A.Vasiliauskas became a laureate of the first prize in H.Eller's contest in Tallinn. His repertoire includes many solo and chamber music programs, including monographic concerts dedicated to the works of J. Brahms, R. Strauss, B. Britten, Ch. Ives, D. Shostakovich, A. Khachaturian, and V. Bacevičius.
Andrius presented the works of the little-known XIX century composer and artist Napoleon Orda for piano in Lithuania in 2008. In 2009, together with pianist R. Lampsatyte and violinist J. Tankevičiumi, he performed the works of Lithuanian composers M.K. Čiurlionis and J. Gruodis at the Leipzig University of Music. This became a significant representation of Lithuanian culture, as it was only after many years of these composers' studies at the Leipzig Conservatory that their works were heard here for the first time. Andrius Vasiliauskas often includes the works of many Lithuanian composers - F. Bajoras, O. Balakauskas, B. Kutavičius, A. Bražinskas, S. Vainiūnas, J. Gruodis, V. Montvilos, J. Bašinskas, J. Gaidelis, T. Makačinas, A. Kubiliūnas, V. Germanavičius, T. Juzeliūnas, and V. Bartulis - in his programs.
Andrius has prepared chamber programs together with violinists, cellists, flutists, pianists, and singers. In addition to numerous performances in Lithuania, he has played in many other countries such as Latvia, Estonia, Ukraine, Russia, Germany, Denmark, Italy, Finland, Israel, and Poland. He has also participated in international festivals, such as the Schumann-Festwoche 2007 (Leipzig) and the XII Contemporary Music Festival "Iš arti" (2007 Kaunas). The Lithuanian Radio Fund has over 200 recordings of Andrius' solo and chamber music, totaling about 34 hours.
