Anna Axer-Fijalkowska (formerly Anna Nykowska-Duszyńska) comes from Warsaw, where she also completed her studies. Since 2009 she has been working internationally as a costume designer for theater and film. So far she has worked with artists such as Agnieszka Holland, Aernout Mik, Martin Clapp, Anna Smolar and Artur Urbanski. She also designs costumes for art exhibitions and sculptures. Her latest joint project with Paweł Althamer and Grzegorz Jarzyna was recently shown in Regensburg. Theater productions with her costume designs premiered in Warsaw, Vilnius, Shanghai, Beijing, Moscow, São Paulo and Lyon. In 2022, her costumes for a performance of Solaris by Stanisław Lem were nominated for the Lithuanian Theater Prize "Golden Stage Cross". When it comes to costume design, she is particularly interested in the physical dynamics of the acting body, which are detached from gender. She made her opera debut in 2011 at the Bavarian State Opera in Grzegorz Jarzyna's new production of L'Enfant et les sortilèges / Der Zwerg. This season she is designing the costumes for the new production of Lohengrin. (Status: 2022)
