In 2004, I started to play the electric bass at JB Jazz School, in Lisbon, with the teachers Gustavo Roriz and Francesco Valente, and the next year I decided to take up the acoustic bass and studied with Yuri Daniel, Nuno Alan, and Demian Cabaud. Later I enrolled at the Superior School of Music of Lisbon (ESML), studying with musicians such as Pedro Moreira, Nelson Cascais, Afonso Pais and Bernardo Moreira, and taking masterclasses from the likes of John Taylor, Lee Konitz, Dan Weiss and Ohad Talmor. I represented his school in various occasions, particularly at the S.Luiz Jazz Fest where I got the Outstanding Musician Award, in 2011. During this study I spent a period of time abroad, first at the Conservatoire National Supérieure de Musique et de Danse de Paris, having the privilege to work with such musicians as Fred Hersch, Billy Hart, Larry Grenadier, Anders Jormin, Riccardo Del Fra and Dre Pallemaerts, and later in New York City, where I got private lessons with Matt Penman, Joe Martin, Ian Froming and Ben Street. Throughout the years I also got the opportunity to participate in numerous workshops and masterclasses, playing and learning with people such as Danilo Perez, Mulgrew Miller and Steve Nelson.
On October 8th 2011 I got to play my first big band piece "Tout n’est pas blanc et noir" with the Hot Clube Jazz Orchestra at the Great Hall of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation with the guest soloists Susana Santos Silva and João Mortágua, conducted by Pedro Moreira.
Currently I'm part of various bands and projects, mainly Dead Combo, Cassete Pirata, Samuel Úria and Trio de Jazz de Loulé. Last Novembrer I've played on the project "Aqui e Agora", from the English saxophonist Julian Argüelles.
At the same time I'm writing and recording original music for ads and short-films. I've taken part in movie soundtrack recordings, such as Refrigerantes e Canções de Amor directed by Luís Galvão Teles and written by Nuno Markl, which won 2017 Sophia Award for Best Song, and Patrick, by Gonçalo Waddington, with original music by Bruno Pernadas.
I have also worked and recorded with José Mário Branco, Mário Laginha, Maria João, Sara Serpa & André Matos, Scott Reeves, Dan Weiss, Ohad Talmor, Mário Laginha, John Ellis, João Paulo Esteves da Silva, André Santos, Gianni Gagliardi, Manuel Paulo, Nancy Vieira, Afonso Pais, Luís Figueiredo, Luís Madureira, among others, having the chance to play in numerous countries like Spain, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Algeria, Egypt, Turkey and the USA.
