Collects and organises the common fund of Lithuanian dance folklore and fills it with audiovisually recorded material. Analyses the state of folk dancing in folklore ensembles and educational institutions on the basis of observations of inspections, performances and rehearsals. Compiles and publishes collections of folk dances, games, circles and methodological publications. Organises theoretical and practical conferences, seminars, courses, gives presentations, conducts dance training. Participates in the preparation of the Folklore Day of the Lithuanian Song Festival, international folklore festivals, expeditions, surveys, "Visa Lietuva šoka" (All Lithuania Dances) campaigns, "Visa škola šoka" (The Whole School Dances) competitions, etc. events.
