Aušra Stasiūnaitė is a Lithuanian singer (mezzo-soprano) born on January 20, 1952, in Vilnius. She is the daughter of singer Jonas Stasiūnas. In 1976, she graduated from the Lithuanian Conservatory (class of S. Vaidžiūnaitė). Since 1980, she has been teaching chamber and solo singing at LMTA (until 1992 at the Lithuanian Conservatory and from 1992 to 2004 at the Lithuanian Music Academy), and she is a Docent (since 1997).
In 1976-1977, she trained at the Milan LS Theatre (with A. Campogagliani, R. Pastorino, A. Beltrammi). From 1976 to 2002, she was a soloist at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre. In 1992, she trained at the Mozarteum (Salzburg, Austria) summer music academy. From 1993-1994, she taught at the "Carmen Teresa de Hurtago" Latin American singing academy (Caracas, Venezuela).
Aušra Stasiūnaitė performed many roles, such as Rosina, Eboli, Emilia, Siebelis, Suzuki, Carmen, Olga, Adalgisa, Miracle Horse (J. Juozapaitis' "Mariu paukste"), Fox (J. Gaizauskas' "Buratinas"), Ana Regina (A. Brazinskas' "Kristijonas"), Mirta (V. Klova's "Piienai"), Grafienė Countess (B. Kutavičius' "Lokys"). She gave many of her solo concerts and sang with symphony and chamber orchestras from Lithuania, Latvia, Czech Republic, Russia, Norway.
Aušra Stasiūnaitė also performed G. Fr. Handel's oratorios "Samson," "Judas Maccabaeus," "Messiah," W. A. Mozart's "Requiem," "Missa brevis," "Coronation Masses," L. van Beethoven's IX Symphony, "Missa solemnis," G. Verdi's "Requiem," M. Theodorakis' "Spring Symphonies," and solo parts of E. Balsys, J. Juzeliūnas' oratorios. She was also the first to perform solo parts of E. Balsys, J. Juzeliūnas, V. Barkauskas, J. Tamulionis, V. Jurgučio, Z. Virkšas, and E. Sausanavičiūtės.
Aušra Stasiūnaitė has also performed in Italy, Belgium, Canada, the United States, Austria, Czech Republic, Russia, Estonia, Georgia, Latvia, Poland, France, Sweden, Ukraine, and Venezuela. She is the laureate of the Glinka Competition (I place, 1975, Tbilisi) and the International Viotti Competition (I place, 1976, Vercelli, Italy).
