During his 20-year jazz career, French pianist Benoît Delbecq has won many prestigious awards, recorded more than 50 albums, received recognition from such musical greats as Mal Waldron, Steve Lacy, György Ligeti, Steve Coleman.
The unique musical language of this pianist intertwines the sound of a prepared piano, the sounds of synthesizers and other electronics.
After learning classical piano, Mr. Delbecq studied improvisational music with free jazz pioneer Alan Silva from the age of 16, and at 18 he immersed himself in sound engineering and acoustic studies. Later, he deepened his jazz skills in the master classes of famous improvisers Dave Holland, S. Coleman, Muhal Richard Abrams, Kenny Wheeler and others at the Banff Center for Creativity and the Arts in Canada.
Mr. Delbecq creates music for films, as a composer he collaborates with theater and literary artists. As a pianist, he performs in a wide variety of capacities, from solo programs to performances with large ensembles. Hask Collective Paris, which he founded, existed for ten years, music is a co-founder of the group Bureau de Son Paris. And currently he makes music with his trio "Delbecq 3" and quartet "Delbecq 4", Miles Perkin's Quartet, Tom Gouband's trio, S.
