Carlos was born in Valencia (Spain) in 1969. He began his musical studies at the age of 7 at the school of music “SM Lira Castellonera” from Castelló (Valencia). His teachers at this school were Joan Olivert and, mainly, Hermenegildo Rosa. He studied at the conservatories of Carcaixent, València and Madrid.
As a “freelance”, Carlos has played with the major Spanish orchestras. He was a member of the Spanish National Youth Orchestra (JONDE), the Gran Canaria’s Philharmonic and founding member of the City of Granada Orchestra.
Carlos is also founder of the SPANISH BRASS in 1989, winner of the prestigious “Narbonne Brass Quintet Competition ”(France) in 1996. With the SPANISH BRASS, he has toured the world in various occasions, performing concerts in large halls and teaching in conservatories and universities from more than 50 countries.
Carlos has released more than 30 albums with the SPANISH BRASS, receiving awards and acknowledgments for these recording works such as the “PREMIS CARLES SANTOS” (2019, 2020, 2021), as well as recognition to his career such as the “I Bankia Talent Award Musical of the Valencian Community” or “Premi Espai TER”.
The last award and perhaps the most relevant is the one given by the Ministry of Culture of Spain in 2020, NATIONAL MUSIC AWARD, the first time this has given to a brass group.
