Daiva Stulgytė was born in Kaunas. She graduated from J. Naujalis School of Arts (class of R. Šerkšnytė) and the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (class of O. Šteinberg for piano). Since 1989, she has been working as a concertmaster-assistant at the Department of String Instruments at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. At Kaunas J. Naujalis Music Gymnasium, she leads the ensemble music department. Her main creative direction is chamber music. She has prepared chamber music programs with altinist Girdučius Jakaitis, Jona Kaliūnaitė, Scott Dickinson (England), oboist Vilmantas Kaliūnas, Trio "Donum" (Vaiva Rožinskaitė - viola, David Wolf - clarinet (Germany), Daiva Stulgytė - piano), singer Rita Novikaite (concert programs "November Dreams" and "Winter Rhapsodies"), and has performed solo and chamber music concerts in Lithuania, Germany, and Great Britain.
As a harpsichordist, she played with the LMTA student orchestra, Kaunas Chamber Orchestra, Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, and the St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra. She also participated in the choir "Aidija" staging of the opera "Dido and Aeneas" and performed organ and harpsichord parts in J.S. Bach's Passions according to John. As a concertmaster, Daiva Stulgytė participated in international competitions in Denmark, Great Britain, Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia, Russia, Belarus, Romania, and Lithuania. She also participated in master classes with J. Bashmet, M. Rostropovich, P. Xuereb, G. Hamann, and the Kaunas Young Performers Festival. With singer Rita Novikaite, Daiva recorded a compact disc "November Dreams." She has accumulated a considerable repertoire of viola and clarinet works.
