Dalia Jatautaitė comes from Šilutė, where she attended a children's music school and began studying piano. Later, she attended the higher music school of Stasys Šimkus in Klaipėda and the Lithuanian Academy of Music. Professor L. Digrys had a decisive influence on D. Jatautaitė's career as an organist. After completing her studies and being appointed to Kaunas, she found organs at the Vitražo gallery (now the Church of St. Mykolas Archangel in Įgulos).
D. Jatautaitė's master's degree was acquired in Austria, where she specialized in performing music repertoire on organs. In Kaunas, organ music concerts are almost synonymous with D. Jatautaitė's name. In September 2012, a cultural event of professional artists - the concert cycle "Let the Great Organs of Kaunas Archcathedral Catch Again" - took place at the Kaunas Archcathedral Basilica. This event will be continued in December.
Dalia Jatautaitė came up with this initiative, making efforts to promote and revive organ music in Kaunas. She leads the Kaunas Religious Music Center and organizes events, such as traditional "Sunday Music" concerts or the "Musica sacra" festival, which takes place every autumn. Concerns about the future of the great organs at Kaunas Archcathedral are causing organ music experts and enthusiasts to worry about the stalled restoration work.
The planned music initiative is just one way to draw public attention and support restoration work for this unique instrument. Organists and music lovers hope to find benefactors or those willing to contribute to the restoration of this remarkable instrument, so that they can perpetuate their noble work in the honorable Arkcathedral Basilica.
