He gained his First Prize with unanimity when he was 14. He then continued his harp studies with Germaine Lorenzini, and a further First Prize with unanimity from the Rotterdam Royal Conservatory. He joined Isabelle Moretti’s class at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris, where he was awarded a First Prize in chamber music in 2003, and a solo harp First Prize with unanimity in 2004.
Laureat of several international competitions, he was for example the winner of the junior Lily Laskine Competition 1996. He also works regularly with ensembles such as the Orchestre de Paris, the Orchestre Les Siècles, Les Dissonances, and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France.
His wide orchestral experience has seen him work with the greatest conductors of today’s times, for example James Levine, Yuri Temirkanov, Seiji Ozawa, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Mikko Franck, and Valery Gergiev. As a soloist, David Lootvoet has appeared with the Orchestre National de Belgique, the Pasdeloup Orchestra, and the Orchestre Les Siècles.
