Denis Severin is professor of cello at the University of Music Geneva-Neuchatel and the University of the Arts in Bern. He won the Echo Klassik Prize in 2015, was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2007, was the 2018 winner of the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA), and is a prize-winner of several international competitions.
Denis performs both as a soloist and as a chamber musician in the world's most prestigious venues. He collaborates with outstanding ensembles and other musicians, is a frequent participant in classical music festivals, has been invited to adjudicate competitions, is Artistic Director of the ArtCello Festival and the Schlosskonzerte Beuggen concert series in Germany, and is President of the Art Without Borders Basel Association.
Denis Severin graduated from the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatoire (Prof. D. Miller), continued his studies at the University of Music of Geneva (Prof. D. Grossgurin), the Basel Academy of Music (prof. T. Demenga), the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris (prof. G. Hoffman) and the Schola Cantorum in Basel (prof. C. Coin).
