Biography

 From 1961 to 1973 he studied at the 22nd and 23rd secondary schools in Vilnius.
1973-1978 he studied at the All-Union Institute of Cinematography in Moscow, where he obtained a specialisation in cinematography.
Since 1977 he has worked as a cinematographer at Lithuanian Television.

As a cinematographer, he made the feature films "Wedding in the Forest" (dir. A.Araminas, 1982), "The Serpent's Crown" (dir. B.Talačka, 1986), "Freckled Summer" (dir. B.Talačka, 1988), "The Brothers of the Pre-Dawn" (dir. S.Vosylius, 1987) and "The Chameleon" (dir. S. Vosylius, 1989). He made the documentaries "Takai šalia magistralės" (Trails near the Highway) (1977), "Dar kartą o laimę" (1977), "Sensitivity as Bread" (1979) with the director E. Zubavičius. With the director J. Javaičius he filmed "Nieko kito nemoku" (Nothing else I can't do), "Tebūnie" (Let it be) (1989), "Jonas Jurašas - nebaiginti klavyrai" (Jonas Jurašas - unfinished claviers) (1989), and many others.

Since 1991 he has worked as a freelance cameraman for a variety of film and television projects. With directors D. Kutavičienė and J. Javaičius, he filmed the programmes "Kūrybos metas" (Time of Creation), "Laiko portretai" (Time Portraits), "Lietuvos teatro metraščiai" (Lithuanian Theatre Chronicles) (about 1000 programmes). At the same time, about 100 documentaries and promotional films were made. In 1989-1989, he was a lecturer in the Department of Journalism at Vilnius University, where he taught cinematography.
