Eckhard Kopetzki is a German composer and former drummer known for his unique way of combining various music styles in his compositions. Kopetzki has created numerous classical music works as well as electronic and choreographic music pieces. His music is widely used in television and film projects all around the world.
Eckhard Kopetzki was born in 1956 in Hannover/Germany. He studied to teach music and physics at the University of Osnabrück and the Music College in Würzburg. Since 1985 he teaches percussion instruments and music theory (harmony) at the "Berufsfachschule für Musik" in Sulzbach - Rosenberg. He is well known for his compositions for both the elementary education sector and for concerts, as well as various chamber music compositions. In 2002 he won the 1st prize in the PAS (Percussive Arts Society) composition contest for his set-up solo "Canned Heat"; in 2003 he won the 1st prize with his solo for marimba "Three Movements for a Solo Dancer". Many pieces were commissioned from several ensembles and orchestras; he is also busy as a juror in international competitions.
