Eglė Rakauskaitė was born in 1979 in Vilnius. In 1997 she graduated from the Vilnius M. K. Čiurlionis Gymnasium of Arts (now the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts). In 2004, she graduated from the Vilnius Academy of Arts with a Master of Arts degree (Monumental Art-Vintage specialisation). In 2002-2003, she studied architectural, hot and sculptural glass and computer graphics at the University of Sunderland in England (Socrates/Erasmus programme). Since 2008 she is a member of the Lithuanian Artists' Union.In 2020 she received an individual State Scholarship for creators of art and culture.
The artist lives and works in Vilnius. She organises projects and exhibitions, writes articles, gives presentations and conducts classes on architectural art glass and stained glass. Since 1996 she has participated in more than 80 exhibitions, symposia and international projects. She has held 3 solo exhibitions. She has exhibited her works in stained glass, art glass, painting, drawing and watercolour in museums and galleries in Lithuania, Germany, England, Latvia, the Netherlands, Poland and Belarus. Since 2000, she has created and installed over 30 stained glass compositions for the interiors and exteriors of private dwellings, as well as for public spaces in Lithuania, Norway, England, Germany and Ukraine. 2014 - 2018 worked as a restorer at the National Museum of Lithuania. 2018 - 2020 worked as an artist-manager at Public Institution "Vitražo manufaktūra".
