Fabio Gorlier graduated in piano at the "G. Verdi" Conservatory in Turin, after studying at the Civico Istituto Musicale in Alba under the guidance of Valter Protto, and having perfected his skills at the Alessandria Conservatory. At the same time, he approached jazz, taking part in piano and modern harmony courses at the Centro Jazz in Turin, at the international seminars in Siena, Arquato Jazz and Nuoro Jazz, and studying with the greatest names in Italian jazz, including Enrico Rava and Paolo Fresu. He also deepened his study of music at university level, graduating in artistic, musical and entertainment disciplines and in the history of music at the University of Turin, with a period of study in France at the Faculty of Musicology of the Université «Rabelais» in Tours. For several years he has been involved in an intense concert activity that ranges from classical to modern music, with a particular predilection for jazz. He has participated, in various formations, in numerous Italian festivals: Torino Jazz Festival, Time in Jazz in Berchidda, Mito, Dolomiti Ski Jazz, Time in Sassari, Europa Cantat, Piacenza Jazz Fest, Nuoro Jazz Festival, Venezia Jazz Festival, Avigliana Jazz Festival, Fiorenza Jazz Festival, Expo 2015, Tor Vergata Roma Sinfonietta, Collisioni, European Jazz Expo 2009 in Cagliari, Moncalieri Jazz Festival, Piemonte in Musica, Rivoli Musica, performing in important theaters such as the Fenice in Venice or the “Agnelli” auditorium in Turin. He has also performed abroad in countries such as Scotland, Northern Ireland, France, Switzerland (in the Locarno Film Festival 2015), Austria (in the Tiroler Festspiele season in Erl), Ecuador (in the Festival of Italian Culture), Palestine (in the “Jasmine Festival” in Jerusalem and Ramallah), and China (at the Shanghai Jazz Festival). He has played with many important musicians including Billy Cobhan, Furio di Castri, Andy Sheppard, Diane Schuur, Javier Girotto, Terrel Stafford, Gianluca Littera, Gabriele Mirabassi, Tino Tracanna, Marco Tamburini, Roberto Rossi, Roberto Gatto, Giovanni Falzone, Diana Torto, Gianni Basso, Dino Piana, Gianni Cazzola, Carol Sudhalter, Tullio de Piscopo, Attilio Zanchi. Outside the jazz field he has worked with the baritone Lucio Gallo or the pop singer Mietta. In the past he has also carried out a journalistic-musicological activity, collaborating with the Institute for Musical Heritage of Piedmont, the magazines "Il Giornale della Musica" and "Analyse Musicale", the musical season "L'altro Suono" and the Theater of Arezzo. A record in his name as a trio has recently been released: “Woody'n'us” for Jazz City Records, a reworking of Woody Allen's film soundtracks. He is also active on a teaching level, having worked for several years with the Fossano Musica Foundation both in the Fossano and Bra offices where he teaches piano and is involved in the "Jazz Lab" ensemble activity.
