Self-taught, François Corneloup started in 1979 in improvisation workshops.
He plays in his first quartet as a leader in 1986. From 1985 to 1992, he plays in parades, balls, concerts and carries out scenographic and musical research. International tours followed with the Lubat company (Patrick Auzier, Laure Duthilleul, Bernard Lubat, André Minvielle).
In 1990 he co-founded the collective Incidences. In 1995, he created the François Corneloup Quartet (Rémy Chaudagne, Manuel Denizet, François Raulin), then in 1996, the François Corneloup Trio (Claude Tchamitchian, Eric Echampard). The Calligraphers Orchestra, the François Corneloup Trio + Yann Fanch Kemener and the Babel Bal (2000) followed.
In 2001, he created a new quartet with Yves Robert, Marc Ducret and Eric Echampard.
