Garlef Keßler studied Applied Cultural Studies and Aesthetic Practice at the University of Hildesheim, graduating with a diploma, and subsequently worked as a technical assistant at the children's and young people's theatre Huis aan de Amstel (Amsterdam), at the Dansgroep Krisztina de Châtel (Amsterdam), and at Sasha Waltz. & Guests (Berlin). Since 2011 he is the technical director of TPZAK (Cologne Circus and Theatre School). He works for various independent dance and theatre companies including mouvoir/Stephanie Thiersch, IP tanz, Britta Lieberknecht, F.A.C.E./Kristóf Szabó, overhead project, bodytalk/Yoshiko Waki, and Un-Label.
