Gediminas Rimkus Rimkevičius (b. 1964, Vilnius) graduated from the 4th Vilnius Children's Music School in 1979, piano class, later studied music theory and composition at the Stasys Šimkus Higher School of Music (1979-1980), the Juozas Tallat-Kelpša Higher School of Music in Vilnius (1980-1983), studied composition with prof. Eduardas Balsis (1983-1984), studied jazz piano at the Klaipėda faculties of the Lithuanian State Conservatoire (1984-1987), composition at the LAMTA in the class of Prof. Julius Juzeliūnas (1988-1992).
In 1993 he was a prize-winner at the Forum-93 Intercontinental Composers' Competition in Montreal. In 1994 he took part in the Peter Maxwell Davies and Scottish Chamber Orchestra Composers' Course in Edinburgh, and in 1995 he was a trainee at the Lyon Conservatoire. In 1996, the composer taught theoretical disciplines at the LAMTA. Gediminas Rimkus Rimkevičius' music has been performed at concerts and festivals in Lithuania and Europe (e.g. Huddersfield Festival), America and Asia.
During his 40-year career, the composer has arranged dozens of works by other composers, and has composed and arranged music for various Lithuanian television and radio stations. He also composes a great deal of music for theatre, and produces musical projects for television, festivals, concerts and other events. Several of his albums have been released on CD and DVD.
