The artist Gintas Banys typically portrays humans, their emotional states, relationship with contemporary environment and surrounding events in his paintings. Each painting reflects a moment, capturing a certain mood. According to the artist, the eyes are often the main accent in a work, allowing the idea of the painting to be revealed. Gintas Banys is also well-known as the conceptual leader, songwriter and lyricist of the Lithuanian rock band "Pelenai". Painting has been and remains an integral part of his life. "I paint when I don't perform, I perform when I don't paint - that's my understanding of the mission in this life. In painting, just as in songs, I pay great attention to meaning, conveying thoughts, and emotions," says G. Banys. The artist uses mixed technique and likes to experiment. As he himself says, "I never know how the work process will end, and I am satisfied with it because creativity is something that pushes me forward, something that makes me live." Gintas Banys' works have found homes in Lithuania, Germany, the USA, and Switzerland. He has had solo exhibitions at the "Menų tiltas" gallery in Vilnius, the "Kolonada" in Druskininkai, and the "Laiptų galerija" in Šiauliai. In 2018, he had a solo exhibition at the Širvintos Cultural Center. In 2019, he had an exhibition "Rokas su teptukais" with Saulius Urbonavičius-Samas at the "AP gallery" and the Palanga resort museum in Vilnius. In 2020, he had an exhibition at the "Senamiesčio galerija" in Panevėžys. In 2021, he had a solo exhibition at the Lithuanian Educational History Museum in Kaunas, and at the "Ramybė" gallery in Palanga. In 2022, he will have a solo exhibition at the Varėna Cultural Center exhibition hall.
