His real name is Gio Dzhioev. The young man was born in Tbilisi. Gio grew up in a strict family.
His father tried to instil the right moral values in his sons. Music was often played in the Dioevs' home, so it is not surprising that Gio's path was determined while he was still in his parents' home.
It is known that Gio attended a music school where he learned to play several musical instruments at the same time. Later he took up vocals.
Gio recalled that he was not interested in studies. And even lessons at music school seemed a waste of time. Gio adored the "courtyard life".
When he was a bully with his peers, that's when he felt at ease. This mood did not suit Gioiev senior very well. In his teenage years, Gio often fought with his father.
The conflict between Georgia and South Ossetia meant that the family often changed their place of residence. From Georgia, the Gioevs had to move to North Ossetia.
From Ossetia, the family moved to Moscow. For the whole family, the move was a huge stress that prevented them from "curling up" in a warm, cosy and family-like nest.
In 2006, Gio moved to the Republic of Komi. He moved there at his brother's request. My brother managed to set up his own business there, and he lacked an assistant.
Gio Piki's creative path and music
Interestingly, the first performances are not related to hip hop culture. Gioiev clearly understood that he had strong vocal abilities.
But there was no one around to guide Pica's voice in the right direction. Initially, Dzhioev performed with a blues crew. How he came to rap remains a huge mystery to him.
While living in Syktyvkar, he made a career as a hip hop artist. Dzhioev had many acquaintances who were involved in music. One evening, Gio came to DRZ, who gave Pique a listen to a track he had recently written.
The listening session ended up with Pique writing lyrics. So the first Gio Peaks track, "Syktyvkar Quarters", actually came out. It is this event that can be called the beginning of the Russian rapper's career.
Gio Peaks had a lot of friends in recording studios. Interestingly, his friends never charged him money for the recordings.
Thus, the performance of the lyrics was accompanied by a trip to his friends to record the tracks. After the recording, the guys discussed the shortcomings together. This helped Gio to make really good music.
What are the songs about?
Gio Pica's lyrics have a lot of prison themes. In some of the compositions, the author warned that the material is criminal and prison-like.
The rap of the young man is "northern", while in the old formation most of the songs were about the Gulag system. In fact, it is all Gio.
Gio Pica has never been in prison. In one of his interviews, the rapper said that as a teenager he was friends with guys who told him first-hand about crime.
Gio himself calls his work a chanson framed by a powerful recitative. Although the lyrics themselves were angrier and unlike the chanson we are used to hearing.
