Organised by Šiauliai art and music students, the band played energetic post-punk rock with elements of ska, Latin American music and funk. Sauliaus "Sam" Urbonavičius' lyrics ridicule provincialism, social and national limitations, and celebrate "urban romance".
Bix's music is based on an excellent rhythm section (Gintautas "Profesorius" Gascevičius and Skirmantas Gibavičius have been recognised as the best Lithuanian pop/rock instrumentalists). The modern style and the world's attention to the Revival have allowed Bix to perform actively in Western Europe and the USA. In 1991, the band's manager Marijus Brasiūnas was killed in a car accident, and several musicians were seriously injured.
Bix members designed their own albums and filmed several music videos. Since 1996, Bix has abandoned the brass instruments, and after 1997, the band performs less frequently, while its members take part in various artistic and musical projects. After Skirmantas Gibavičius left the band in 2004, he was replaced by bassist Tadas Žukauskas.
