One of the best ways to grow as a musician or discover new musical directions is through collaboration. Collaborating with fellow musicians or artists from other disciplines. And the more quality collaborations, the better. Of course, many artists understand and actively use this creative concept, but the most important thing is not to lose sight of its importance and artistic significance in everyday life. Good friends, performers, multi-instrumentalists, composers and arrangers Donatas Petreikis and Karolis Šarkus have also understood this. The two have known each other for a number of years, during which time they have listened to and discussed a lot of music together, debated saxophonists' topics, and shared the music they create. All this has always remained within the confines of the studio and has not been made public. Eventually, the two artists had accumulated enough musical knowledge, joined forces and, out of their love for the jazz tradition, the Collaborative Jazz Septet came to light. It is the only jazz septet in Lithuania that authentically performs original music inspired by the bebop and hardbop eras. Karolis and Donatas and the band have recorded and compiled it all into an album, which will be released digitally on 1 November 2020. The album was presented live in six Lithuanian cities in the summer of 2021. The debut album is available for purchase online or on all popular music listening platforms. In 2022, the band released a second album on vinyl, That Groove, and a video series available on YouTube.
