The folklore ensemble "Acorn" has been active in Kaunas John Paul II Gymnasium for more than 30 years. The ensemble is led by Artūras Sinkevičius and Dobilas Juška. 

The ensemble performs traditional songs, dances, instrumental pieces, often experiments and takes a modern approach to folk songs. The members of "Gilė" pay special attention not only to concerts, but also to the live tradition - together they celebrate calendar and family holidays. 

"Gilė" is also a club of hikers: over 30 years, more than 160 hikes have been organised and almost 8000 kilometres have been travelled. 

The ensemble is a regular guest of festivals in Lithuania and abroad. "Gilė has already recorded 10 CDs, and in 2003 was awarded the Golden Bird Award.
