consisting of some of the most prominent jazz musicians in the Baltic States, under the direction of American trumpeter and composer Jason Hunter, who has recently formed the ensemble to perform and record original compositions and time-tested jazz classics. Their sound can be described as a fresh and inspiring new take on modern jazz, blending swing, hard-bop, Latin and other styles.
Jason Hunter is originally from Los Angeles, California. After studying music at Fullerton College and Berklee College of Music with jazz masters such as Mark Whitfield, Ralph Peterson, and Tiger Okoshi, Jason has performed in a variety of venues as a guest musician or bandleader around the world. Hunter is currently based in Tallinn and plays with some of Estonia's most prominent jazz, funk and pop artists as a trumpet player, as well as arranging, composing and producing a number of projects.
Famous Latvian organist Atis Andersons and Lithuanian drum master Augustas Baronas provide the nucleus for this wonderful blend of styles.
One of Estonia's finest alto saxophonists, Allan Kaljaste, joins Hunter, adding his passionate playing style and improvisations to the line-up.
Jason Hunter Baltic Quartet is currently touring with the new album ImagiNation, released on Jerikas Records.
