Founded in 1994, Amrita is a group of dancers of all ages and professions. There are retired members who have been dancing since the very beginning of the group and young people who have just graduated from higher education institutions. The group actively participates not only in events, competitions and festivals in Kupiškis town and district, but also performs in other countries. After the 10th anniversary, the collective overcame the fear of the stage and mistrust. The group started to perform abroad, in Ukraine, Estonia and Sweden. We plan to perform in Germany and Switzerland. After the performance in Ukraine, there was a real dance boom. Seeing the seniors dancing made Ukrainians feel that dancing is not only beautiful and enjoyable, but also healthy. Age is not a barrier here, but an advantage. Can children show what love of dance is, what passion is, what a woman is. Only people who are solid and who have had life experience can show that and really feel it. Dance technique comes with experience - the more you dance, the better. Maybe that's why our couples are not afraid to participate in competitions with seniors from other cities. It's fun to compete with good friends we have been friends with for almost 10 years. We are happy to visit them. They are also happy to visit us. Over the 18 years of its existence, the collective has developed its own traditions, customs and even toasts.
30 April 2019. On 30th of April, the Kupiškis Culture Centre's seniors' recreational dance group "Amrita" held its presidential election. For the third time, the trust of the members of the collective was not lost by the long-standing president Kęstutis Paliulis, who was unanimously elected this time too. For this occasion, Amrita's dancer, blacksmith Gintautas Vaitonis, created and presented the "President's Chain".
