Reputed for the deep and poetic vision of the works they tackle, Quatuor Akilone stands up for the vast string quartet repertoire with musicality, cleverness and imagination. It is both a human and a musical adventure that was born in 2011 in Paris.
An award-winning quartet, laureate of the Premier Grand Prix of the 8th Concours international de Quatuor à Cordes from Bordeaux and of the ProQuartet prize in May 2016, Quatuor Akilone has since been touring in Europe and Japan. They performed in venues such as the Wigmore Hall in London, the Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista in Venice, the Munetsugu Hall in Nagoya, the Maison de la Radio and the Salle Cortot in Paris and in festivals such as Les Vacances de Monsieur Haydn, the Orangerie de Sceaux or the Festival des Arcs.
The young ensemble also thrives through their associations with other musicians like Vladimir Mendelssohn, Tabea Zimmermann, Avri Levitan, Jérôme Pernoo, David Walter, Florent Héau, Jean-François Heisser et Pavel Gililov.
They have trained with great chamber-music artists such as Hatto Beyerle, Johannes Meissl, and Vladimir Mendelssohn, as well as renowned quartets like Quatuors Ysaÿe, Rosamunde, and Ebène. The quartet also benefits from Mathieu Herzog’s valuable advices.
Alongside their international career, Quatuor Akilone reaches out to a wider audience, less accustomed to classical music concerts, thanks to the Concerts de Poche association and Musethica.
Their first CD was released in fall 2018.
