Releve Neoclassical Dance Theatre is a unique collective in Lithuania, promoting the genre of neoclassical dance. Neoclassical dance is a fusion of ballet and modern, contemporary movement, which allows the dancer to move more freely than following the strict canons of classical dance, but it is the ballet that creates a unique, original dance technique. Releve Neoclassical Dance Theatre was formed in 1989 under the direction of dancer-choreographer Rasa Butrimaviččiūtė, who still directs the company today. During the 30 years of its creative activity, Releve has produced several generations of dancers who now bring their offspring to the classes. "Releve's activities are test-driven, with groups for different ages. In the first year, the young members are taught the basics of classical ballet. Later, the young dancers are prepared for concerts, and an artistic programme is chosen to suit their ability. All new members are gradually integrated into dance productions, performances and compositions.
"Releve" dancers actively participate in Kaunas city festivals, republican and international dance festivals and competitions in Lithuania and abroad, attend seminars and dance camps.
The 2023 season was particularly creative and active - Releve's choreographic productions "Tanta Allegria", "Saulala Motula", "Nerimastinga jūra" were nominated for the 1st place in the festivals-competitions "Baltic Amber", "Allegro", "Spring Shelsmas" in Latvia, Poland and Lithuania. The initiative of the collective has already been used for 33 times to organize the republican dance festival "I Dance for You", dedicated to the International Dance Day.
