"Palanga Orchestra", which regained the name of a professional performing arts institution in the 2020s, is one of the most important creators of the cultural identity of the city of Palanga.
Since 1953 the musical group, which was destroyed twice and revived again, continues the tradition of orchestral music concerts in Palanga's Birutė Park, known to listeners as "Orchestra Summer", which started in the time of the founders of the resort, Counts Tiškevičius, and continues for the second century.
Several generations of listeners grew up with these concerts, and "Palanga Orchestra" earned the unquestionable love of the audience and raised a large group of musicians scattered around the best orchestras.
During its existence, "Palanga Orchestra" has organized many performances, participated in various celebrations, festivals, radio and television programs. The word about the "Palanga Orchestra" has spread beyond the borders of Lithuania.
Today, "Palanga Orchestra" is one of the most professional wind instrument orchestras in the country, characterized by a cultural sound. "Palanga Orchestra" pays special attention to the quality and diversity of its concert programs and the representation of the city of Palanga.
Since 2000, the "Palanga Orchestra" has been led and conducted by Vygantas Rekašius.
