Quintet 2.0 was founded in 1989 by Dutch violist and composer Paul Van Kemenade. The group has given hundreds of concerts in the Netherlands and abroad. The quintet has played together for almost twenty years and recorded dozens of records and CDs. They combine their music with different musical disciplines and cultures. They have played with brass and wind orchestras, pop bands and symphony orchestras. Van Kemenade has long collaborated with South African musicians Feya Faku, Louis Mhlanga, Sydney Mnisi and Sonti Mndebele. The quintet has performed with artists such as David Murray, Kenny Wheeler, Zim Ngqwana, Philip Catherine, Pierre Blanchard, David Linx, the West African group Les Frères Guissé and more.
Today, the members of the quintet have their own international careers, but occasionally come together for special occasions. When this happens, they enjoy each other's musicianship and mainly play the leader's originals
