The "Sheep Got Waxed" trio, which won the main prize of the VJYP contest in 2011, are no longer promising newcomers, but one of the most interesting alternative music groups in the country and one of the most attractive Lithuanian music export collectives, receiving excellent reviews not only in their country, but also abroad.
The music of the trio is not easy to "digest", but it seems to attract the fans of the drive. "Sheep Got Waxed" boldly juggles musical extremes and contrasts: caresses and bites, freezes and burns, shampoos and waxes. Despite the canons, the group hits the top ten with its creative effects and improvisations.
In 2010, the jazz students Simonas, Adas and Paulius, who gathered at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater, started rocking Lithuanian festivals a year later. The cocktail of jazz, punk rock and avant-garde played by them on saxophone, guitar and drums attracted the interest of theater director Vidas Bareikis, who invited the group to create music for his play "Kovas klubas" and to perform it live on stage - the play won a Golden Stage Cross nomination for its music, and his works became the group's first album.
After a couple of years, the trio's second album "Pushy" attracted attention not only in Lithuania, but also abroad, the musicians presented the works of this album on their Chinese tour. The albums "Tommy Got Waxed", recorded live by the trio with the Dutch band "Tommy Mustache" (2019), and "More Chews" (2022) were even more popular. Foreign critics, like Lithuanian colleagues, recognized the uniqueness of the band's music.
Sheep Got Waxed has been nominated twice for the M.A.M.A Award in the "Alternative of the Year" category. The trio presented their work in China, South Korea, Taiwan, Slovenia, France, Spain, Denmark, United Kingdom, Latvia, Estonia and other countries. For several years in a row, the group performed silent films at festivals in Stockholm, Helsinki and Copenhagen.
All members of the trio are exceptional musicians and inventive generators of ideas.
