The history of the Ventus Choir began in 1996, when the mixed choir, founded by the bright memory of Vitalija Burke, started to rehearse in the then Kuršėnai Culture House "Venta".
Soon the choir became active in cultural life: it took part in the district and national song festivals, went to the Nordic Baltic choral music festivals in Sweden (1998), Norway (2000), Klaipėda (2002), and gave concerts in Latvia.
And in addition to that, the choir did well in the republican competitions. In 2002, the Lithuanian Adult Choir Competition in the category of mixed choirs awarded the 1st degree diploma, and in 2006 the 2nd degree diploma. In 2006, at the 14th Festival of Sacred Music-II Choir Competition "Cantate Domino" in Kaunas, Ventus was awarded a bronze medal and the nomination "For the most Lithuanian programme".
Then followed a hiatus.
In 2015, after eight years of silence, the Ventus Choir resumed its activities. New members joined the choir's old-timers - eager to sing, to give concerts, successfully combining their musical interests with their completely different daily professional activities.
In 2015 they performed at the choral music festival "Tegul dainoj ištirpsta toliai" (Kuršėnai). In 2016-2017, she presented her concert programmes at the event dedicated to the International Mother Language Day at the Kuršėnai School of Arts, at the Easter afternoon celebration at Kuršėnai St. In 2017, the choir "Ventus" was awarded the 2nd degree diploma at the Republican Adult Choir Competition.
Since 2016, the choir "Ventus" has been representing the Šiauliai District Municipal Cultural Centre again, and has been working, sharing its joys and accomplishments at the Culture Centre of Kuršėnai. The group, which has resumed its beloved activities, rehearses willingly and successfully, and performs many concerts.
