We dance, play and sing,
We make our own works with fun.
Children of the most beautiful region of Eastern Aukštaitija, dancing from the very young days in the dance and song ensemble "Vieversa" of Utena Culture Centre.
The origins of the ensemble are in 1980. The ensemble was founded in the 1980s by Roberta Macelienė and grew into the folk dance ensemble "Vieversa" in 1996, which now has over 130 participants. She works with 4 groups of dancers: the youngest are 5 years old, the oldest - 19. The ensemble has vocal groups for children and adults, with about 30 participants. The ensemble's programme includes folk dances, games, rallies and songs from different regions of Lithuania. Every two years, the Vieversa ensemble organises an international children's and young people's folk dance festival "Under the Summer Sky"
Anyone can dance, regardless of his or her physical abilities and musical talents. I want to help children to realise their abilities by turning rehearsals into a creative painting, a project. I try to instil in children the need to dance, so that this desire remains throughout their lives, so that it becomes their leisure time, so that a person knows how to connect the plasticity of the body with the feeling of music, so that they learn aesthetic and stage culture, I encourage them to learn about Lithuanian and world dances, to constantly improve themselves.
