is a German literary scholar and head of the Poetry Cabinet in Munich.
Pils studied German and history in Heidelberg and received his doctorate in modern German literature. phil. PhD. From 2005 to 2007 he was spokesman for the Kulturstiftung Hansestadt Lübeck and then lecturer at the German Department at the University of Heidelberg. From 2009 to 2013 he managed the Buddenbrookhaus in Lübeck. He has been managing director since 2014 and executive director of the Lyrik Kabinett Foundation in Munich since 2018. He is a lecturer at the Otto Friedrich University of Bamberg.
He is a member of the board of the working group of independent cultural institutes (AsKI) and on the board of the German Thomas Mann Society.
Pils publishes the Munich speeches on poetry with Frieder von Ammon. He is editor of the Zwiesprachen series in the Das Wunderhorn publishing house and co-editor of the Edition Lyrik Kabinett with Hanser in the Carl Hanser publishing house.
