Indrė Liškauskaitė studied painting (BA) and textile (MA) studies at Vilnius Academy of Arts. She is working with drawing, painting, sound installations, video and writing. She is interested in
human and non-human animal relations and nature representation systems. Through her works artist is blending the boundaries between myth and science, real and fictional, sound and visual.
While working with big scale drawing pieces, the artist is trying to expand the drawings into sculptural situations in the space. Drawings are often folded and rolled as maps, in order to reflect on how the human gazes at nature. Indrė is interested in, what are the cultural and visual meanings behind nature representation systems, such as nature documentaries, encyclopedie images or mythical narratives. Through the fictional and digital landscapes, the artist is questioning the anthropocentric looks to the surroundings and other species.
