Theatre. This mysterious world has always been in me... or maybe I'm in it...
I've been in the theatre since childhood, like probably everyone. I didn't escape it in my school days either. I have often sat in the audience. And so until 2008...
I came to Utena to escape the hustle and bustle of the capital city, the busy rhythm and the sense of futility. I wanted to recover myself and fill my empty inner world with something. And then... it happened that I got the role of Papirta in the new play "Sudiev, kvietkeli..." by the respected director A. Eigerdiene in the theatre "Žaliaduoniai" in Utena KC.
A new life has begun! Because theatre is great therapy! It helped me to learn to see life as a play. I realised that a person chooses how to react, how to behave, what to "act" - drama, tragedy, comedy or...a magical fairy tale...
Thanks to the theatre, I have realised that being on the stage is not only a way of applause and ovation, entertainment or, after all, a way of self-expression and leisure time. It is a great responsibility and hard work. I believe that theatre should bring light, goodness and love to people, it should awaken people, stimulate them to think, to look at a problem in a new way, to look back to their true values and themselves. That is why theatre has to be at least just a little bit above everyday life. And so must the actor be... He must constantly grow as a person!... And the theatre provides the perfect conditions for this!... Theatre is a rigorous school of self-development! Here you learn to listen, to hear, to be silent, you learn self-discipline, self-restraint, punctuality, responsibility, order, you develop willpower, patience, empathy, you have to get over your fears, your shame, your embarrassment, you have to get over your complexes, and you also learn to maintain a spirit of team, you don't hide behind someone else, you survive a breakdown and bravely go forward again, you inevitably broaden your horizons, you accumulate knowledge, you delve into problems you never thought existed in your life, and you are constantly in the process of self-discovery, of discovering the mask of your own brilliance, and you are in a fully creative process.
The birth of theUTENA CAMERA THEATRE is an insanely fantastic and historically significant event! Only complete madmen could dive into such an adventure... with open hearts!... I am extremely happy that together with my theatre family, I have accepted the challenge to grow even more and, like everyone, to discover my new talents in new activities. Now it doesn't matter whether you are on the stage or at the door of the auditorium when you see the smiles of the guests, the shining eyes, the words of thanks or congratulations... Every meeting is a solemn celebration in the heart!...
I am very happy that the Theatre School for Children and Young People has opened its doors here. I hope that soon all their hearts will be bursting and singing with joy, having experienced the Premiere and the constant elated state of "I am part of the theatre".
It is said that theatre is like a drug. I agree! Because even once you've tasted it, it's hard to stop. And it doesn't matter in what form and in what quantities you take it - addiction is guaranteed! But I don't want to be treated...
Someone asks me what my most memorable role has been. I even get embarrassed... All of them! All the roles I've had, they're already part of me... That's why they're all precious and memorable!
Papirtienė (performance "Sudiev, kvietkeli...", directed by A. Eigerdienė, 2008) - because it's the first one, witty, funny, like a game.
Prancūzaitė Jurgita ("Meetings", directed by A. Eigerdienė, 2009) - because my parents liked it very much.
Rūta ("Jason", directed by A. Eigerdienė, 2011) - because it remained incomplete, not developed to the bottom, not polished and not exhausted...
