has been playing the bass since he was nine years old, and has virtuoso mastery of both acoustic and electric instruments.While still at school, the bass player played in the joint jazz group of Illinois states, with Chicago jazz masters Von Freeman and Orbert Davis. In 2002, at the Essentially Ellington competition, where he emerged as a star, he met Wynton Marsal, thanks to whom he entered the Juilliard School of Music.
Soon I. Taylor became a member of Mulgrew Miller's trio and sextet "Wingspan", touring extensively with these groups. He established himself in the New York scene by collaborating with many of today's top improvisers, including Rashid Ali, Louis Hayes, Nicholas Payton, Curtis Fuller, Kenny Garrett, Delfeayo and Wynton Marsal, Robert Glasper, Take 6, Rodney Jones, Russell Malone, Cyrus Chestnut, Jonathan Baptiste, Diana Ross, Chris Madsen.
