Jan Magne Førde (1962) has worked as a professional musician and composer for 40 years. He is a frequently used soloist and composer/arranger both in Norway and internationally, and in addition to his own solo career, he plays in «The Brazz Brothers». Førde er professor of music at Nord University.
Førde has toured all over the world and has had countless collaborations with other musicians/artists. Of these, Lester Bowie (USA), John Surman (England), Palle Mikkelborg (Denmark), Women Unite (South Africa), Shidara (Japan) and Trio Preto (Brazil) can be mentioned.
He made his debut as a solo artist in February-96 with the critically acclaimed CD «Enough of that jazz». In 1998 came his second CD «Domen» which, among other things, was nominated for the Spellemannspris and Edvardpris in 1998. Many other renowned artists have also used Førde's trumpet pipes. He has contributed to over 50 CD productions with artists such as Jan Eggum, Åge Aleksandersen, Halvdan Sivertsen, Gøran Fristorp, Steinar Albrigtsen, Knut Reiersrud, Sigvart Dagsland, Dum Dum Boys, Sissel Kyrkjebø and 20 CDs with «The Brazz Brothers».
Førde has written over 250 compositions and arrangements for all types of ensembles, ranging from smaller vocal pieces to commissioned works for symphony orchestras and TV productions. Several of the compositions have become very popular, and are played by a number of musicians and artists around the world.
