Jan Verheyen is a carillonneur in the cities of Hasselt and Neerpelt and founder of the experimental bell music laboratory Bells Lab. Jan's innovative approach to music from different genres allows him to create and present projects that engage a wide range of audiences, from theatre and dance performances to training and large-scale events. "Bells Lab also organises workshops and bell music education in schools.
Jan's most important tool to bring all his ideas to life is the mobile carillon. He uses this instrument both indoors and outdoors.
Jan Verheyen studied music at the Royal Carillon School in Mechelen, and he also studied at the Netherlands Carillon Institute in Dordrecht. In 2019, he received his Master of Music degree from Luca Arts Leuven. He is in great demand as a concertmaster both in Belgium and abroad, and also teaches carillon at the Royal Carillon School in Mechelen and at the Academies of Molo and North Limburg.
