John Martin, one of Sweden's musical phantoms who in recent years has appeared in several productions of Andrew Lloyd Webber's the Phantom of the Opera. At Cirkus in Stockholm, he participated in the ensemble and made several notable appearances in the title role, and later he played Raoul at the Gothenburg Opera. The following year he alternated in the role of the Phantom at Det Ny Teater in Copenhagen, followed by being called up as the 'Emergency Phantom' on The Phantom of the Opera World Tour. John Martin is probably the only one in the world who sang both the title role of the Phantom and the role of Raoul in 3 different languages; Swedish, Danish and English. In the spring of 2023, John Martin will once again put on the white mask. This time at Kristianstad Theatre.
John Martin has played leading roles in a long line of musicals both in Sweden and abroad. Among others FAME, Cabaret, West Side Story, Les Misérables and Wicked. We last saw him as Gaston in Disney's Beauty and the Beast at Malmö Opera.
As one of 3 singers in the vocal group Eclipse, he toured the world for 5 years with their Anders Bagge-produced debut album in the back, released on SONY MUSIC.
John Martin is often hired in larger concert contexts and has participated in both TV and radio programs on several occasions. He has released several albums of his own.
The musical project PARTS is the latest in a series of John Martin's own interpretations of the musicals' big hits. For his efforts in culture, John Martin was awarded Växjö Municipality's Kul-turpris 2019.
In November 2021, he was invited by the Finnish National Opera in Helsinki to sing the role of Phantom in the concert version of Love Never Dies. In the summer of 2022, he sang Karl-Oskar in the concert version Kristina from Duvemåla at Dalhalla.
